NORTHWEST CHAPTER OF S.P.A.A.M.F.A.A. MINUTES OF GENERAL
MEETING ON JUNE 9, 2007
MEMBERS
PRESENT: President Michael Beutler, Secretary-Treasurer
Ralph Decker, Doug Blackburn, Cathie Bigelow, Bill Kehle,
Merle Frank, Jerry Heater, Steve MacDonald, Bill Hall, Joe
McCarthy, Matthew Simek
Meeting called to
order by President Michael Beutler at 11:40 AM at Clark
County Station 6.
Treasurers’ Report: the same as was given at the Board
Meeting. Bill
Kehle gave a detailed report on the income and expenses
for the 2007 Winter Conference.
Elections: Motion,
seconded and passed to maintain the Board as it is now
until the Nominating Committee meets in the 3rd
Quarter.
By-laws – review the By-laws at the July 21st
meeting and make some changes.
Activities:
Eugene – Water Safety Day – June 23rd.
We cannot authorize this event because it is going
to take place before our 30-day prior for insurance
coverage.
President Michael talked about a possible event at
Blue
Lake
Park
that is on the outskirts of
Portland
. August or
September. September
8th is the tentative date.
Jerry moved, Doug seconded to set up the
Blue
Lake
Park
event and that at the next meeting a budget be submitted
and President Michael will be the point man.
A discussion was done on what would it take to get the
membership more involved.
The consensus of opinion was more activities.
History of Firefighting, antique apparatus, etc.
Secretary Ralph was asked to look into the Chapter’s
status with the IRS re 501C (3).
Bill Hall was asked to investigate who filled out
the form for this. Bill
said that Keith Townsend in
Gresham
filled out the form. (Update
- Ralph
called Keith and he said that the Chapter never filed to
receive a 501C(3))
A discussion was conducted on what we give members.
The consensus was NOTHING.
Suggested a nametag, membership card, certificate
of membership, roster and By-laws.
President Michael is working on establishing a database on
members. He
will ask the Board members to call a certain number of
members.
GOOD OF THE ORDER:
Vancouver
,
Washington
will be celebrating their 140th Anniversary on
July 22nd.
Portland
Oregon
will be celebrating their 125th Anniversary
next year.
Merle moved to adjourn at 1:40 PM.
